Our mission is to reduce textile waste

We are a marketplace that unites a community of upcycle designers who are using creativity to drive change, transform fashion culture and make a positive impact on our planet.

Our vision is to use creativity, collaboration and design, to revolutionise the fashion industries' attitude to textile waste.

We envision a new circular system that reduces the amount of textile waste ending up in landfill and polluting our planet. We do this by reutilising materials and garments that are already in circulation.

Alterist is about altering the world's perception of fashion and what is considered to be textile waste. It is about challenging the social norms about being experimental with style. It’s about altered vision.

We do this by upcycling.

Upcycle

/ˈʌpsʌɪk(ə)l/

To reuse discarded clothing, objects or materials in such a way as to create a product of higher quality or value than the original components.

By upcycling, we avoid the production of new materials, reutilising what would typically be discarded and revaluing it. As a result, upcycling can double the life expectancy of a garment while avoiding any further environmental impact making it one of the most sustainable things you can do in the industry today.

As it stands, the fashion industry is not sustainable.

The aim of Alterist is not to increase the volume of raw materials produced but to add value to garments and materials already existing in circulation.

Our marketplace is built on the vision that through creativity and design, upcycling can change the face of the fashion industry as we know it.

At Alterist, we want to be the catalyst for change, and we want to give you the power to make more sustainable choices. We see upcycling as the way to create one of a kind, iconic pieces while also keeping these materials out of landfill.

As we see it, fashion is culture, and culture can drive change. With our community of designers, we can make the transition towards a more sustainable lifestyle for a better planet for all.

Are you a designer?

We are currently looking to work with designers who believe what we believe.
